DUMB TOURIST OF THE WEEK: STATUE DESTROYED BY SELFIE
by Hazed
A tourist in Portugal was so keen to get a selfie with a 126-year-old statue that he ended up destroying it.
The unidentified young man was trying to take the picture with the statue of Dom Sebastiano, a 16th century Portuguese king that sits outside a railway station in the country’s capital, Lisbon. It’s a protected monument that was completed in 1890.
But he accidentally toppled the statue over by trying to climb up on its pedestal, which smashed it. When he realised what had happened he tried to run away but was caught by police.
See, I told you selfies were a menace!
