PICTURE OF THE WEEK: A COLLAPSED CANYON ON MARS

The Mars Express spacecraft which is in orbit around the planet has taken a spectacular picture of a chasm that shows a massive collapse.
Hebes Chasma is a depression just north of the Valles Marineris canyon. Inside Hebes Chasma is Hebes Mensa, a 5 kilometre high mesa. It appears to have partially collapsed, and material has flowed onto the floor of the chasm.
