FED2 STAR ACCUSED OF PUBLISHING FAKE NEWS
by Hazed
A leading politician in the Galactic Administration has accused this newspaper of publishing stories about him which he says are “Fake news”.
The accusation comes in the wake of a scandal involving the Minister for Administrative Affairs, Ronald Ventus. He is being investigated after anonymous sources claimed he was part of a criminal conspiracy to sell counterfeit ship permits to unqualified candidates for vastly inflated prices.
But that’s not the news the minister says is fake; no, in a tirade against the newsdroids and editor of the Star, he accused us of blackening his good name by making up stories about his links to the Martians.
His angry rant about fake news and failing journalists was sent over the comms last week: “Wow, Star had to retract big story on ‘Martians’, with 2 newsdroids deactivated. What about all the other phony stories they do? FAKE NEWS!”
Well, Mr Ventus, we say that it’s you who are peddling fake news. There are two inaccuracies in your comm message. The first is that we never printed anything about you and your supposed links to our enemies the Martians – that was a different publication, the Mars Daily Star, which is nothing to do with the Fed2 Star.
The second falsehood is that the story lead to two newsdroids being deactivated. Not so – as our regular readers will know, the recent loss of two of our droids was due to their treacherous behaviour over the ransomware they deliberately infected themselves with in order to extort groats from me.
So, Mr Ventus, we declare that the Star does not print “fake news”. Our stories are always thoroughly researched. Well, except for the stuff we make up for entertainment purposes, but everyone knows not to take those articles seriously.
