REAL LIFE NEWS: T REX COULDN’T RUN
by Hazed
New research shows that the Tyrannosaurus rex can’t run after its prey at a full sprint, but could only manage a brisk walk.
Scientists now think that the size and weight of a T rex would have prevented it from running. If it went any faster than a brisk walk, its leg bones would have collapsed and buckled under the tremendous weight.
A team from Manchester University’s School of Earth and Environmental Sciences used computer simulations to show the impossibility of the running T rex. Instead, they think it walked briskly in a “bird-like” manner.
That doesn’t mean you’d be able to escape – a dinosaur’s brisk walk still makes a top speed of 12 miles per hour so you probably wouldn’t be able to outrun it, unless you were as fast as Usain Bolt.
