THE IMPORTANCE OF USING TESLAby HazedLast week I told you that in order to become a Plutocrat, your star system has to have at least two planets in it, and I explained how to put a second planet into your system. One thing I forgot to do is to emphasize how important it is that you check your files using the Tesla planet checker. This clever little program goes through your planet files and checks for errors that would stop them from loading into the game, or would cause problems, and then tells you what needs to be fixed. When you submit files, the first thing I do is to run them through Tesla. If any errors come up, I'll throw the files right back at you to fix the problems. So finding those errors yourself saves you time and means your planet will appear in the game sooner. Not to mention you will avoid making me cranky! The version of Tesla for Windows can be downloaded here. There is also a Mac version but this does not check for as many things as the Windows version. We've had some reports that people using some early versions of Windows XP can't run the current version of Tesla. If that's the case, or if there is some other reason you can't run the program, then when you submit your files please say in the email that you are unable to use Tesla, and I won't be so harsh about returning the files to you if they contain any problems! |
