REAL LIFE NEWS: CATS AND DOGS GET OXYGEN MASKSby HazedBoston firefighters are kitting out every fire engine in the city with some new equipment: oxygen masks intended for use by cats and dogs. The idea is that after being pulled from burning buildings, pets can be overcome by smoke just as much as humans can, and administering oxygen can save their lives. So fireman will be able to rescue poor Fido or Tiddles from the flames, then keep them alive if their lungs have been messed up by smoke. Whatever next? Will the hamsters, mice and other small pets be clamouring for equal treatment? Much as I love cats, I am not sure this is the best use of the firefighting dollar! |
