ASTI’S EVEREST TREK, MARK II

Last year Astrid Byro (daughter of Freya, model for Selena of the Spaceways) did something amazing for charity: she climbed Everest. Her trek to the base camp raised money for Bletchley Park, a site of huge significance in the history of computing, whose work shortened WWII by several years.
Well, she’s doing it again - and this time she’s taking a group of victims... erm... volunteers with her.
Money raised this time will go to the UK’s National Museum of Computing.

In a few months she’s off on a preparatory trek to Gokyo Ri, another peak in the Himalayas, and recent posts include the list of stuff she’s packing to take, and how she’s going to use technology to keep on working while she is up a mountain.
As George Carlin said: “If the reason for climbing Mt. Everest is that it’s hard to do, why does everyone go up the easy side?”
